In November of 2024, the Sun Prairie Area School District once again brought forward to the voters an operational referendum. This one was for $25 million to expand educational opportunities for students, improve staff compensation, and stabilize the operating budget. The Communications Team led the District’s outreach with the community to make sure voters were informed. This involved print pieces (2 mailed brochures, 1 mailed postcard, 1 four-page newspaper ad, posters & banners for schools), social media engagement, in-person engagement events, videos, and a webpage. The campaign required constant collaboration with various District departments and community partners. One unique aspect of this campaign involved the Comms Team adapting its message in response to feedback from the community. As a result, the messaging, was refined to be more concise and relevant. The referendum passed with 57% voting in favor versus 43% voting against.
